Happy Eco-Week Conscious Changers! This February we are focusing on how you can make your hygiene routine & house cleaning products greener than a 3 Sisters Paddy’s day crowd (or the morning after...). In terms of hygiene, there are loads of ways to make your routine sustainably green without going all out Moana/Tarzan. Here’s our list of TOP TIPS BELOW:

Royal Flush

Toilet paper is recyclable right? WRONG!According to Greenpeace, the US could save 400,000 trees if each family bought JUST ONE roll of recycled toilet paper instead of a normal bleached roll. The same applies for Us! Check out whogivesacrap, & opt for bamboo or recycled paper instead. Stock up as orders over £20 get free delivery!

Sexual Healing

Why not keep the bedroom action natural?! The majority of condoms and lube contain harmful chemicals to both your body & the environment. Olive Oil, Coconut Oil or Aloe Vera are all viable lube alternatives. If you want the real deal, go for petroleum free options Almost Naked or Sliquid. In terms of condoms, pads, and cups look no further than Sustain. Most important, we encourage you to be safe and only use what you are comfortable with. Whatever you go for, DO NOT FLUSH CONDOMS/TAMPONS DOWN THE LOO. The chemicals wreak havoc on sewage systems and aquatic life – they belong in the trash!

Hollywood Smile

This is an easy one, but important nonetheless. The average person gets through 315 plastic toothbrushes in their lifetime. Quick fix, change ‘em to bamboo! Also, buy toothpaste not in boxes!

Dolled up to the 9s

One for the makeup wearers – single-use cotton balls and baby wipes may be convenient, but they are both water intensive and take a lifetime to biodegrade. A far more eco-alternative is reusable cotton rounds and organic coconut oil, both available here.

Looking sharp

The disposable plastic razors gatts to GO! A much better option are the metal safety razors, or a bamboo razor – as long as you recycle the metal blades!

For an A* in sustainable hygiene:Buy BARS OF SOAP not plastic bottles5-MINUTE SHOWERS use 3x less water than bathsPeeing in the shower also saves water!
